Westside Workshops: It is planned to run the following workshops: Traditional Music Sessions, Cake Decorating, Aromatherapy and Reflexology, Genealogy, Photography & Digital Cameras, Food Hygiene and Spinning. Barvas and Brue Senior Citzens’ Mainland Trip – May 2009 Will all those wishing to go on the trip this year please contact Anne MacKay on 840359 as soon as possible, ideally before Monday 16thApril to enable us to book the hotel and make travel arrangements.
Bag Packing - We have been given the opportunity to bag pack at 6 tills in Tesco from 9am – 6pm on Saturday 14th February and we need as many volunteers as possible to help us!!! Anyone with a spare hour or two on Saturday 14th who are willing to help the senior citizens with their fundraising please contact Flora on 840374. Thank you all very much.
The Table Top Sale at the Community Centre on 7th February was very successful and also saw the launch of the newly updated local phone book. We have already sold a great number of these books – to get your copy before it sells out, call in at Barvas Post Office or phone Peggy on 840400.
Traditional Music Session will be held on Saturday 7th March at 8.30pm.
Admission £5 adults and £2 children.
Barvas & Brue Community Centre the next committee meeting will take place on Wednesday 4th March at 8.00 p.m. at the Centre. It is a very interesting time at the centre at the moment with so many events taking place – the last few weeks has seen a really busy table top sale, a wedding, a Burns Supper, Cadets, a talk and slide show on the guga, birthday party, Youth Club meetings, Christianity events, evening classes …. the list goes on. Do you want to be part of this exciting venture? have you any ideas to put forward? - then please come along to the meeting where you will be made to feel very welcome.

Hire Charges at the Centre have been revised. Local group rates vary from £2.50 - £5 an hour to £25 - £50 all day depending on the area or areas to be used. Why not book your wedding or a function there – it is proving to be a very popular place! For more details or to book a function or collect the keys please contact Suzi on 840406 or Peggy on 840400.
The West Side Agricultural Society will hold their annual Dinner Dance in the Centre on Friday 20th February. After supper, there will be traditional dancing. We hope that as many as possible of those who were involved in the success of the Show last year will come along and join us in a relaxing evening. For details and to book dinner please contact the secretary Bill Hendry on 840369 before Saturday 14th February. Music will be by Oidhche Chiadain and the dance will start at 9.30pm . Tickets for the dance are available at the door priced £5.00.
